Second Sunday of Lent – Year A
Blurbs by Rev. Fr. Pete Literal
Last Sunday, we entered the desert of temptation.
Today, Jesus leads us up the mountain of glory.
In the Transfiguration, Jesus reveals His glory to the disciples, and the Father proclaims, “This is my beloved Son… listen to Him.” This moment strengthens us for the journey of faith and ministry, and reminds us that beyond weakness and struggle, there is hope.
As we journey in this season of Lent, we are invited to climb the mountain of listening — to hear Christ’s word, to let go of our own agendas, and to open our hearts to God’s transforming presence. The climb or challenge may be steep, but we remember who we are: God’s beloved children.
When the disciples were afraid, Jesus touched them and said, “Do not be afraid.” That same touch is offered to us in prayer, the Eucharist, reconciliation, and acts of charity.
We do not remain on the mountain. Changed by Christ, we return to daily life ready to serve, to love, and to carry His light into the world, especially as we partner our organizations with the direction of the Archdiocesan Filipino ministry.
Listen to Him — and be transformed.
