Blurbs by Rev. Fr. Pete Literal
On this First Sunday of Lent, the Gospel leads us into the desert with Jesus. Before beginning His public ministry, Jesus fasts and prays for forty days and allows Himself to be tempted. He does this not by accident, but to teach us how to trust the Father when we are tested.
Where Adam and Eve failed through disobedience, Jesus remains faithful. By rejecting the temptations of power, comfort, and control, Christ restores what was lost and shows us that victory over temptation is possible through obedience, prayer, and God’s grace.
Lent reminds us that temptation is not a sign of failure, but an opportunity for growth. Jesus faced temptation for us—and in Him, we are never alone in our struggles.
As we begin this sacred season, may we walk with Christ through prayer, fasting, and trust, confident that the path through the desert leads to new life.
