PENTECOST SUNDAY: RECEIVE, RELEASE, AND LIVE IN THE SPIRIT

Blurbs by Rev. Fr. Pete Literal

On this Pentecost Sunday, Jesus speaks to us as He did to His disciples about the Holy
Spirit: “Rivers of living water will flow from within him who believes in me.” He knows our
struggles, fears, and doubts and offers us the Holy Spirit as the Source of new power
and strength, guiding us to live our mission and leading us to new life.
First, as people of God, we must RECEIVE the Holy Spirit. We must recognize the living
water, the new strength and power we need in life. We were given the Spirit at baptism
and confirmation, but His presence must be renewed every time we act in faith. Come
to the water. We are His disciples. We are called to be Spirit-filled disciples, empowered
to share Christ with boldness. On our own, we are weak, but with the Spirit, we can
proclaim the Gospel fearlessly.
Second, as partners in His mission, we must RELEASE the power of the Holy Spirit
within us. Doubt, fear, and hesitation block the Spirit’s work in our lives. When we
surrender to Him, He strengthens our faith, fuels our passion for God, and heals our
weaknesses.
Like the disciples, we are sent into the world not alone but filled with the Spirit’s power.
We are to walk and live in the Spirit of God and manifest His power in everything we do.
Let us open our hearts, embrace His peace, and move forward with courage.
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful!
