Finding the Lord in the Family. Feast of the Holy Family

Blurbs by Rev. Fr. Pete Literal

The Church presents the Holy Family as a model for our families—not because they were free from hardship, but because they trusted God through it. In Matthew’s Gospel (2:13–23), we see a family forced to flee into Egypt to protect their child. Joseph listens to God and acts with courage, Mary trusts and nurtures with quiet strength, and Jesus grows within the love and care of his family.

The Holy Family reminds us that holiness is not about perfection, but about love, sacrifice, and faith lived daily. Parents today are called to protect and nurture their children—body and soul—amid the challenges of the world, while keeping Christ at the center of family life.

May our families become “little churches,” places where love is practiced, faith is taught, and Jesus is always welcome.
