John 11:1–45
Blurbs by Rev. Fr. Pete Literal
In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead and gives three powerful commands: “Roll away the stone… Lazarus, come out… Untie him and let him go.”
These words speak not only about Lazarus, but about our own spiritual lives. Sometimes we place “stones” in front of our hearts—fear, resentment, guilt, or habits that keep us from fully experiencing God’s life and love. Yet Jesus is never afraid to come to the darkest places of our lives. He calls each of us by name and invites us to step out of whatever holds us captive.
Lent is a time to hear the voice of Christ calling us to new life and true freedom.
As members of our parish community, engaged in Filipino ministry, we are also called to help “untie” one another through encouragement, service, and participation in the ministries of the Church. Together we grow in faith and help bring the light and life of Christ to others.
May we respond to the Lord’s call and live in the freedom of the children of God.
