The Epiphany of the Lord

Matthew 2:1–12

Blurbs by Rev. Fr. Pete Lietral

Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Epiphany—the revealing of Jesus Christ as Savior not just for a few, but for all people. In the Gospel, the Magi follow the light they are given and are led to Christ. Their journey reminds us that God meets people where they are and gently draws them toward the fullness of truth found in Jesus.

The story of the Magi is a hopeful one, but it also challenges us. Are we willing to trust God to lead us, even when the path is uncertain, or do we insist on our own plans? True light and lasting peace come only from God, often in ways we do not expect.

Epiphany also calls us to action. Faith is not meant to be hidden. Like the Magi, we are invited to bring Christ’s light to others by the way we live—through service, participation in parish life, and care for those in need. We are called to be living signs of God’s presence in the world.

As we visit the crib and see that the Magi have arrived, let us make this our own pilgrimage. May we offer the Lord our gifts and our wounds, trusting that what we place in His hands, He will transform.

The promise of Epiphany is this: God is with His people.
