Advent Theme: Becoming Eucharistic People

Blurbs by Rev. Fr. Pete Literal

This Advent, our parish community embraces the theme “Becoming Eucharistic People.” We prepare not only for the celebration of Christmas but for a deeper spiritual renewal that allows the life of Jesus—His hope, peace, joy, and love—to shape us as a community.

To become Eucharistic people means opening our hearts to encounter Christ in the Mass:

  • in the Bread and Wine transformed into His Body and Blood,
  • in the Word proclaimed,
  • in the priest who presides,
  • and in one another, gathered in faith and love.

Advent is a season of intentional waiting:
We wait for the birth of Jesus—something sure and promised. Yet we also wait in faith for the mysterious ways God is working within us and within our parish. This waiting invites trust, hope, and a readiness for the new life God desires to bring forth.

This Advent, may we wait with hope for the good things God has promised—
for our families, for each of us personally, and for our whole St. John the Evangelist community.
Together, may we prepare to welcome Jesus anew and allow His Eucharistic love to renew our mission and our hearts.

Come, Lord Jesus. Make us Your Eucharistic people.
