Blurbs by Rev. Fr. Pete Literal
Partings are never easy, but they often mark the start of something new. The disciples’
farewell to Jesus was not the end. It was the beginning of a deeper relationship with
Him. “You are witnesses of all these things,” Jesus tells them, commissioning them to
carry His mission forward.
As we move into a new chapter after our community life, we are called to renew our
relationship with Jesus and strengthen our partnership with Jesus’ mission for St. John
the Evangelist Church. Our faith must be alive, transforming our hearts, making our
church more inviting, and ensuring our mission is saving and Christ-centered.
The Ascension of the Lord is not just about Jesus leaving; it is about the mission He
entrusts to us. We are tasked with and sent on His mission to proclaim the Good News
to our families, community, and the world. We are called to stand with the poor, serve
those in need, and witness Christ’s love.
As people of St. John, let us enjoy this new opportunity to bring the power of the
resurrected Jesus into our families and community. Let us take seriously the work of
deepening our relationship with Jesus and inspiring one another to be bold in faith,
active in service, and joyful in sharing His promise to all.
HONORING YOUR LOVED ONES THROUGH A LEGACY-GIVING
Legacy Giving is a powerful way to honor your loved ones while strengthening the
mission of our St. John the Evangelist Church. By establishing a gift in their name, you
create a lasting tribute that supports our church’s spiritual and operational needs.
Whether through a planned bequest, an endowment, or a generous contribution, your
support will help sustain the heart of our faith community for years to come.
Imagine the impact: A thriving church where families are nourished in faith, the
sacraments continue to be celebrated, and Christ’s message of love and mercy reaches
every heart. Your gift ensures that St. John the Evangelist Church remains a beacon of
hope for future generations.
We invite you to prayerfully consider making a Legacy Gift to honor your family or those
who have shaped your faith. Their memory will live on in the good works that continue
through our church. For more information on beginning a Legacy Gift, don’t hesitate to
contact Rev. Pete D. Literal, our pastor. Thank you for being a part of this sacred
mission.
St. John the Evangelist Church, our faith community, thrives because of the generosity
and devotion of our parishioners, both past and present. Their faith, love, and sacrifices
built the foundation upon which we stand today. We can continue that legacy to ensure
that future generations have a place for worship, spiritual growth, and personal
encounters with the love of Christ.
