5TH SUNDAY OF LENT. CALLED TO RECONCILIATION AND SHARE THE SAME MERCY

Blurbs by Rev. Fr. Pete Literal

Today’s readings remind us that God is merciful and forgiving. He calls us to live as people reconciled to Him and to extend that same mercy to others.

As Lent is a time of renewal, let us open to ourselves and others a fresh start. Jesus offers this new life to the adulterous woman, freeing her from condemnation and giving her hope. Likewise, St. Paul urges us to leave the past behind and press on toward our goal in Christ.

Jesus forgave the woman instead of condemning her. He invited her to a new life through mercy. She accepted His grace and moved forward in hope. We are called to do the same. “Let the one without sin cast the first stone.” Instead of judgment, let us offer love. Forgiveness sets us free—it is the right and good thing to do.

Jesus’ ministry is about inclusion through reconciliation. God offers each of us a fresh beginning. We are called to be messengers of His mercy, bringing reconciliation into our homes, parish, and world. Together, let us build a welcoming, faith-filled Filipino Council of the Archdiocese of Baltimore where grace flows through us, drawing all closer to Christ.
