Brothers and sisters in Filipino Ministry,

I am inviting you to join us in FLARE on NOVEMBER 10, 2018 – from 12:30 PM – 7 PM – for our 3rd FLARE.  YOU ARE INVITED…              

 You and the leaders/board members of your organization are hereby invited to spend an afternoon and evening with us at the Council’s Third Faith and Leadership Assembly for Renewal and Empowerment (FLARE III), on Saturday, November 10, 2018 beginning at 12:30 p. m. at the Parish Center of St. John the Evangelist church, 13305 Long Green Pike, Hydes, Maryland 21082.  The overall theme this year is: “Leadership in Creating Harmony: Our Faith Expressed, Our Faith Engaged.” 

Our Keynote speaker is the Most Rev. Oscar A. Solis, D. D., Bishop of the Diocese of Salt Lake City.  His topic will be: “Christian Leadership Beyond Culture: Why we can and should lead”.  Our second speaker is Fr. John Hurley, C.S.P.  former Director of Evangelization of the Archdioceses of Baltimore and currently Vicar of Evangelization of the Diocese of San Jose.  His topic will be: “The Power of Family in Missionary Discipleship”.

The leadership seminar and prayerful reflection portion of the day will end at 4:30 and will be followed by a mass celebrated by Bishop Solis beginning at 5:00 p.m.  This will be followed at approximately 6:00 p.m. by a Thanksgiving dinner dedicated to you and all those who made this year’s Fiesta of Two Filipino Saints a success.  Awards will be presented.  The finale of the evening will be the drawing of the second ($5000) and first ($10,000) prizes on our Raffle. 

A light snack and refreshments will be available at the seminar.  As usual, this entire event is at no cost to participants (we will accept an offering to defer costs).

We need to know in advance the names of those who are committed to come from your organization in order to properly prepare (seating, food, conference handouts, etc. etc.).  So please disseminate this letter to your organization and have each of those who plan to participate RSVP as soon as possible [Cut-off date is November 7, 2018.]  You may “sumagot po kayo” by  calling Helen Sadorra at xxx-xxx-xxxx;  (3) By sending email to lynn7201@xxxxxxx.com, indicating your organization and the names of participants of your organizations.

May the peace and joy of the Holy Spirit be with you!

On behalf of Archbishop William Lori and the Filipino Council of Archdiocese of Baltimore (FC of AOB), we wish to invite you and your organization to the 8th Filipino Saints Fiesta Celebration in Archdiocese of Baltimore to honor the First Two Filipino Saints: San Lorenzo Ruiz & San Pedro Calungsod, on September 30, 2018 starting at 1:30 pm at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen (CMOQ), on N. Charles St. Baltimore, MD 21210.

Responding to the call to be missionary disciples as expressed by Pope Francis and Archbishop William Lori, it is our intention this year to make this joyful celebration a Day of Spirit-Filled Encounter with God. As in the past, all Filipino organizations and Filipino-Americans families living or serving the various states of MD, VA, DC, DE, and NJ, and PA come and celebrate our faith, unity, and Filipino culture and religiosity We especially invite you and your organization to join us and many other Fil-Am organizations so that we can pray and celebrate as One People of God for the gifts of San Lorenzo Ruiz and San Pedro Calungsod.

In connection with this participation, we ask you to help in the following:

  1. PRAY, PROMOTE, AND ATTEND: As people of faith, we encourage you to pray for the success of the event and join the 3-Days Prayer and Reflection (Triduum) on September 27th, 28th, 29th of September. If you cannot make the Triduum, join us in the Filipino Saints Fiesta Celebration on September 30th at CMOQ. Please promote our Filipino Saints and this Filipino Fiesta to your families and friends in whatever means available.   2. FIESTA SALU-SALO (POTLUCK): As in the Philippines, we celebrate Fiesta with food and hospitality, we request all participating organizations and parishes to bring Filipino dishes, tables, and tents, where your members and friends can have “Salo-Salo” after the Mass. Tents and tables of food may be set up at the Cathedral; Plaza at 1:30 PM. For space reservation and inquiry, please contact John Smith, the Overall Chairman of the Fiesta at 443-790-3425 or jssmithlaw@verizon.net.
  3. REPRESENTATION AND PARTICIPATION IN THE LITURGY OF THE MASS:
    We seek wider representation/participation from organizations in the Choir and Celebration of the Mass. Kindly bring a banner of your organization that we may promote your presence and collaboration. If there are Choirs or instrumentalists in your organization who wish to participate, please contact Dr. Myrna Ortega at 410-615-0776 myrort@verizon.net.
  4. FINANCIAL SUPPORT: We welcome love offerings from each organization to cover the expenses of the celebration.   As Commemorative Souvenir Book will be printed to feature Filipino community’s response to Pope Francis’ call to missionary discipleship as expressed in his “Joy of the Gospel, and publish the Donors and Supporters of Filipino ministry in AOB.   Sponsorship options and direction is in the attached document. Kindly make your tax deductible donation payable to “FC of AOB.” If you have special prayer intentions, please let us know that we may include them for the Triduum and Fiesta Sunday

A Certificate of Appreciation and a gift will be given to each participating organizations in recognition of the support and participation you show to this Fiesta.
